11.2. Check of level of liquid in the automatic transmission

The car has to stand on a plain horizontal surface.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Make a trip before warming up of the transmission up to the temperature of 70-80 °C.
  2. Park the car on a plain horizontal surface.
  3. At the working engine move the selector lever from situation "N" to all provisions and back to situation "N".
  4. Before extraction of the probe wipe from dirt area about the probe. Get the probe and check a condition of transmission liquid. Check color of liquid in the automatic transmission. Check liquid in the automatic transmission for presence of unusual smells. For definition of change of color and a smell of liquid compare it to fresh liquid.

If liquid in the automatic transmission has a burned smell or is polluted by parts of material of plugs or from friction, perhaps, capital repairs of the transmission will be required.

  1. Check the liquid level which has to be between tags of "HOT". If necessary, add necessary amount of the required liquid. Transmission liquid: GENUINE HYUNDAI ATF SP–III.

Low level of liquid can be the reason of many malfunctions as air gets to liquid, and the liquid suspension with air becomes compressed that leads to chaotic change of pressure and violation of work of couplings and tape brakes.

Also increased level of liquid leads to the fact that the rotating gear wheels of the transmission shake up foam which results in the same results, as the air which got to transmission liquid.

Anyway vials of air lead to an overheat and oxidation of transmission liquid which, getting in the valve, breaks work of coupling and brakes. Foaming can lead to a liquid effluence which can be accepted for liquid leak.

  1. Reliably insert the probe for measurement of level.
  1. Transmission liquid and oil filters have to be replaced always when carrying out capital repairs of the transmission.
