5.1.9. Control lamp of malfunctions (MIL)

With system of onboard diagnostics (OBD)

The control lamp of MIL lights up with malfunctions in a control system of the engine. However, the lamp of MIL will not light up after three starts of the engine if the malfunction recorded earlier does not appear any more. After inclusion of ignition (before start of the engine) the control lamp burns constantly that indicates normal work of system of diagnostics of malfunctions. The control lamp with the OBD system lights up at emergence of malfunctions in the following elements of system:

– catalytic converter;
– to fuel system;
– air consumption measuring instrument;
– the sensor of absolute pressure in an inlet collector;
– the sensor of temperature of the air coming to the engine;
– sensor of temperature of cooling liquid;
– sensor of provision of a butterfly valve;
– oxygen sensor;
– oxygen sensor heater;
– fuel nozzles;
– admissions of ignition;
– sensor of an angle of rotation of a bent shaft;
– sensor of position of the camshaft;
– to system of catching of vapors of fuel;
– car speed sensor;
– valve of adjustment of frequency of rotation of idling;
– electric food;
– ECM;
– violation of functioning of the transmission;
– acceleration sensor;
– inquiry of a signal of MIL;
– reduction of power.

Without system of onboard diagnostics (OBD)

The control lamp of MIL lights up with malfunctions in a control system of the engine. However, the lamp of MIL will not light up after three starts of the engine if the malfunction recorded earlier does not appear any more. After inclusion of ignition (before start of the engine) the control lamp burns constantly that indicates normal work of system of diagnostics of malfunctions.

The control lamp without the OBD-II system lights up at emergence of malfunctions in the following elements of system:

– the warmed oxygen sensor;
– the sensor of absolute pressure in an inlet collector;
– sensor of temperature of cooling liquid;
– modulator of management of the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft of the engine idling;
– fuel nozzles;
– ECM.

Check

  1. After inclusion of ignition the control lamp lights up on 5 with then dies away.
  2. If the control lamp does not light up, check an electric chain of a lamp, integrity of a safety lock and serviceability of a lamp.

Self-diagnostics

The ESM block constantly controls entrance and output signals and other signals under certain conditions. At failure detection the ESM block writes down a diagnostic code of malfunction in memory and provides a code exit to the diagnostic socket.

Diagnostic codes (DTC) can be considered by means of a control lamp or the HI-SCAN scanner. Diagnostic codes remain in memory to a detachment of wires from plugs of the rechargeable battery or a detachment of the socket from the ESM block, and also before their deleting by means of the scanner.

If the socket is disconnected at the included ignition, in memory the code of malfunction of DTC will be written down. In this case disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the rechargeable battery for the period of more than 15 with therefore diagnostic memory will be erased.
