13.2. Rack of a forward suspension bracket

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove a forward wheel.
  1. Separate an arm of a brake hose of the brake system from a rack of a forward suspension bracket.

Do not tear and do not damage a brake tube.

  1. Turn off nuts of the top fastening of a rack.
  1. Turn off nuts, get bolts of fastening of a rack to a rotary fist and get a rack from under a car wing.

Dismantling

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Edge of the flat screw-driver take off a dustproof cap.
  1. Special J38402 adaptation, – 42 squeeze a spring of a rack of a forward suspension bracket.

For compression of a spring use only the reliable tool.

  1. Turn off a lock nut in the top part of a rod of the shock-absorber.
  2. Remove a rack support, the top support of a spring, a cylindrical spring, a dustproof cover and the lower support of a spring.

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check the rack support bearing for lack of wear or damages.
  1. Check rubber details for absence of damage or deteriorations in their state.
  2. Check a cylindrical spring for lack of a deflection and loss of elasticity.
    1) Check and adjust pressure in tires.
    2) Load the car freight which usually in it is transported.
    3) For check of a spring make a control trip, then step by step execute the following checks.
    4) Check each shock-absorber, consistently strongly pressing and lifting on a bumper corner, the closest to the checked shock-absorber. At each check make identical efforts and note resistance during the pressing and return to an initial state. Compare results of check to the car which quality of the movement satisfactory. Both shock-absorbers on one axis of the car have to show identical resistance. If resistance variously execute the following checks.
    5) Lift a back axis of the car so to unload suspension bracket racks.
    6) Turn out bolts of the lower fastening of racks. Squeeze racks with various speed on all course of the shock-absorber and in both directions. Compare results for two parties of the car at compression and return to an initial state. Resistance of return of a rack to an initial state usually stronger than compression (approximately from one to two times). The right and left racks have to show identical results. A difference of results between forward and back racks – the normal phenomenon.
  1. Check the shock-absorber for existence abnormal resistance or extraneous noise.

1) Check the moments of an inhaling of threaded connections of fastening of a rack. The inappropriate moments of an inhaling can lead to emergence of extraneous noise.
2) If all fastenings as it should be, for isolation of the damaged unit execute check according to items 3 and 4).
3) For check make a control trip.
4) If one of racks of a back suspension bracket works with blows, lift a back axis of the car so to unload suspension bracket racks. Turn out bolts of the lower fastening of racks. Check a rack for abnormal noise for what quickly and completely squeeze it. If only the hissing noise is heard - it is the normal phenomenon.
5) Other undesirable noise can be found by deliberate rocking of the car up and down. Any sound except hissing is abnormal therefore it is necessary to replace such rack.

  1. Check the shock-absorber for leak existence.
    1) Completely stretch the shock-absorber, at the same time turning a rod of the shock-absorber and check area about consolidation of a rod.
    2) Check existence of leak of liquid in a zone of consolidation of a rod.
    3) The insignificant raid of liquid does not serve as the reason for replacement of the shock-absorber as insignificant leak provides rod lubricant.
    4) Considerable leak of liquid from the shock-absorber can be easily found in the wake of liquid, at the same time it is necessary to replace the shock-absorber.

Utilization of the shock-absorber

  1. Completely extend a shock-absorber rod.
  1. Drill an opening to remove gas from the cylinder.

The gas which is going out of the shock-absorber is safe, however it is necessary to be careful not to be traumatized from the taking-off shaving.

Assembly

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Establish the lower support of a spring so that its ledges entered plate openings of a spring.
  1. Install a dustproof cover on the shock-absorber.
  2. Special J38402 adaptation, – 42 squeeze a spring of a rack of a forward suspension bracket. After full compression of a spring install it on the shock-absorber.

Establish a cylindrical spring by the marking directed to a rotary fist.

  1. Completely extend a rod of the shock-absorber and establish the top support of a spring and a support of a rack.

Combine a D-shaped opening in the top support of a spring with lysky on a shock-absorber rod.

  1. Correctly arrange the top and lower ends of a cylindrical spring, having established them in dredging, and screw самоконтрящуюся a nut, but do not tighten it finally.
  1. Remove the device for compression of a spring.
  2. Tighten самоконтрящуюся a nut the required inhaling moment. Inhaling moment: 50–70 N • m.
  3. Grease the top bearing of a depreciation rack and establish a dustproof cap.

Make sure that lubricant did not get on rubber details of a support of a rack.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. At installation of a rack of a forward suspension bracket be convinced that previously cleared the interfaced surfaces and the identification tag is directed to a back part of the car.
  2. Tighten all threaded connections the required moments.

Inhaling moment:

Nut of fastening of the top part of a rack: 45–60 N • m
Nut of fastening of a rotary fist to a rack: 130–150 N • m

  1. Fix a brake hose and a wire of the ABS sensor on a rack.
